Exceptional Students Education (ESE) — Springboard

SPRINGBOARD is St. Andrew Catholic School’s exceptional student education program. This program is being implemented to meet the needs of learners in all the areas of growth (intellectual, spiritual, social, emotional, psychological) with the aim of assisting him/her to achieve his/her greatest potential. For Students with Learning Difficulties/Challenges

  • Definition of Special Needs Students
    • Identified special needs students /ESE (Exceptional Student Education)
      Availing of the McKay Scholarship (with IEP documentation)
      Language Impaired
      Speech Impaired
      Specific Learning Disabled
    • Existing SACS students
      • Identified through standardized psychological testing
      • Identified by teacher and/or parent
      • Referred by counselor and/or administrator
  • Services will be offered through the following process:
    • Identification/Assessment
    • Referral
    • Pre-Screening / Pre-Test
    • Intervention / Program Placement

  • After school academic clubs for students (3:05-4:05 pm)
    Homework Club
    Mission: Organization (study skills, life skills)
    There will be a club fee (rate to be announced).

For Students who Need Enrichment

  • Enrichment will be provided through after school academic clubs
  • Resource persons to conduct clubs: subject area teachers/experts, resource teacher
  • Clubs will be held after school hours (3:05-4:05 pm) M-W
  • There will be a club fee (rate to be announced).
  • Beginning this school year, all SACS teachers will undergo continuing education on Gifted Education in order to cater to the needs of high-achieving students. It is aimed at that teachers of all subject areas will be able to further enhance and enrich the curriculum within their classes.

Early Childhood Enrichment Center (Preschool)

St. Andrew Catholic School’s Early Childhood Enrichment Center provides a developmentally appropriate curriculum to help children become enthusiastic learners. After School Care

St. Andrew Catholic School Aftercare Program is available for students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade. Click here to learn more about our After School Care Program.

Religious Education

Religious education is an integral part of our program. Religion is taught daily and the quality of Catholic education is clear. Liturgical experiences are both school-wide and age-appropriate. Our students attend weekly Mass every Wednesday morning, with quarterly confessions and benediction. The preschool has monthly Para liturgies.

Enrichment Programs

Age-appropriate on-site field trips will be offered to the students several times during the school year.

Lunch Program

A Hot Lunch program is offered for full day students. Lunch coupons are purchased from the cafeteria. If children bring a bag lunch, we encourage the parents to provide a well-balanced nutritional meal. Individual classroom teachers will advise parents of their snack policy.

School Sports

St. Andrew Catholic School offers a large sports program for both boys and girls. An activity fee will be collected for each sport in which a student participates. The Varsity & Junior Varsity teams participate in the ABCC (All Broward Catholic Conference) and compete with other Catholic Schools in Broward County.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Student extra-curricular activities are available: Altar Servers, Chorus, Hand Bells, Student Council, National Junior Honor Society, Yearbook Club, Dance/Drama Club and Peer Mediators, Chess Club, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Culinary Club, Broadcasting
